Forensic report received in Joshua Samaroo police shooting probe as file heads to DPP

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) says the long-awaited forensic report into the police shooting that claimed the life of Joshua Samaroo and left Kaia Sealy paralyzed has officially been received, with the matter now being forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for further review.

The shooting occurred on January 20th, 2026, at the corner of College Road and Dookiesingh Street, St Augustine, and triggered widespread public outrage after CCTV footage circulated online allegedly showing police officers firing at Samaroo’s crashed vehicle while his hands appeared visible.
