Which Markets do you Trade?

Which Markets do you Trade? Charlie Burton, an experienced trader and educator responds. Why do you prefer trading currencies as opposed to shares/indices..etc? If you deal exclusively in forex, which pairs do you prefer trading and why? What is your typical timeframe on trades? I used to trade shares years ago but then I started to move across indices and commodities around 2003 onwards. I was still trading shares up till 2006 and in 2006 it was a really low volatility year in the markets. I then started to trade the S&P500 and Gold more. I nowadays prefer to trade the most liquid currency pairs like Cable, EUR/USD, AUD/USD, USD/JPY, USD/CAD - I don't trade the Swissie so I was quite lucky that I wasn't effected by the turmoil of last year. I mostly trade forex but also have a spread betting account and occasionally also trade futures.
