సింహాచలం ఆలయంలో జరిగిన ఘోర ప్రమాదం 2025 ఏప్రిల్ 30న విశాఖపట్నం జిల్లా సింహాచలంలోని శ్రీ వరాహ లక్ష్మీనరసింహ స్వామి ఆలయంలో జరిగింది. ఆలయంలో జరిగే వార్షిక చందనోత్సవం సందర్భంగా భక్తులు స్వామివారి నిజరూప దర్శనం కోసం రూ.300 టికెట్‌తో క్యూలో నిలబడ్డారు. అయితే, రాత్రి 3:30 గంటల సమయంలో ఆలయ ప్రాంగణంలోని కొత్తగా నిర్మించిన గోడ ఒక్కసారిగా కూలి పడింది. ఈ ప్రమాదంలో ఏడుగురు భక్తులు ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోయారు, అనేక మంది గాయపడ్డారు.

The Simhachalam tragedy occurred on the night of April 30, 2025, at the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, during the annual Chandanotsavam festival. A newly constructed wall, erected just 20 days prior, collapsed near the ₹300 darshan queue line around 3:30 AM, tragically killing seven devotees and injuring several others. The collapse is believed to have been caused by heavy rainfall between 2:30 and 3:30 AM, which may have weakened the wall's structure .

Victims and Immediate Response

The deceased included six individuals from a single family: Pilla Mahesh (30), his wife Pilla Sailaja (27), her mother Pyla Venkata Ratnam (45), her aunt Gujjari Mahalakshmi (65), and two others, Kumpatla Manikanta Eswara Sesha Rao (29) and Pathi Durga Prasad Naidu (30), all from Visakhapatnam and nearby areas . Rescue operations were swiftly initiated by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire services, and police, continuing until 5:30 AM

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and announced an ex gratia payment of ₹25 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹3 lakh to each injured person.
