One-Man Cordwood Operation: Complete Process
WARNING - THIS IS NOT AN INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO!!!
It is a complete description of what's involved in preparing a cord of wood for sale or personal use. After viewing, I think you'll agree that a cord of wood for less than $200.00 in 2013 is a bargain - especially if it's delivered to your door.
In addition to being one of the most dangerous jobs you can do, there's the expense of the equipment, the value of the trees on the stump, cost of gas and oil, equipment maintenance and downtime due to poor weather conditions or equipment failure to take under consideration.
This is not a how-to video. There are additional safety precautions that I could have/should have taken - eye-protection, protective clothing, and perhaps the most dangerous aspect of what I do is that I do it alone. You should always have someone around in case there's an accident.
And with a minimum of 7 full hours per cord, there's not a lot of monetary reward. At $180.00/cord that's just $26.00 per/hour before expenses!!
To anyone considering making a career of this iI say STAY IN SCHOOL! There are a lot safer and more lucrative ways to make a living!
