AC Milan vs PSV Eindhoven 3-3 (agg) Highlights & Goals - Semi-finals | UCL 2004/2005
AC Milan took a vital two-goal advantage in the Champions League semi-final after being dominated for long periods by PSV Eindhoven.
Andriy Shevchenko raced clear to score after 42 minutes, but PSV wasted a succession of chances.
And they were cruelly punished in injury-time as substitute Jon Dahl Tomasson slotted home from close range.
PSV were left to rue missed opportunities from Jefferson Farfan as they at least deserved a draw.
Milan made a high-tempo start, with Hernan Crespo's shot turned over by Gomes and Jaap Stam off target from close range.
But PSV were well-organised and positive, with Farfan posing the main danger to the veteran Milan rearguard.
He had a long-range shot saved at the second attempt by Dida, then shot wastefully straight at the Brazilian keeper after he was released by Mark van Bommel's pass.
Little had been seen of Shevchenko in the first half, but he exploded into action to give Milan the lead three minutes before the interval.
Kaka's pass left PSV defender Wilfred Bouma on his heels, and Shevchenko's pace allowed him to race clear and beat Gomes.
PSV were in bold mood at the start of the second half, taking the fight to Milan, and Dida was fortunate to escape as he fumbled Young-Pyo Lee's shot with Ji-Sung Park closing in.
And after Crespo had wasted a chance, Park was guilty of missing another glorious chance after 54 minutes, shooting straight at Dida after a slick link-up between Van Bommel and Farfan.
Shevchenko almost made PSV pay instantly, with a delicate lob that was acrobatically saved by Gomes.
The newly-crowned Dutch champions were causing Milan all sorts of problems, with first Van Bommel shooting over from a good position then Park just failing to get on the end of Farfan's cross.
But after Van Bommel had again tested Dida, Tomasson delivered the cruellest blow by scoring from eight yards as PSV failed to clear a loose ball.
