JAGAT 2025 Re-release Trailer | Sun-J Perumal

In celebration of its 10th theatrical anniversary, Jagat (2015), the critically acclaimed debut by Director Sun-J Perumal, returns to the big screen. This re-release is accompanied by the premieres of two bold new feature films, Macai, a gripping crime drama and Neer Mel Neruppu / Fire on Water, a satirical romantic drama, further expanding the creative universe of the filmmaker.

While each film explores distinct genres and standalone narratives, they are intrinsically connected through a shared origin: the pivotal decision made by Jagat’s protagonist, Appoy. In the original film’s climax, Appoy is seen stepping into the criminal underworld. But what if he had chosen a different path?

Neer Mel Neruppu (Fire on Water)
Reimagines Appoy as a studious youth who ultimately becomes a filmmaker, reflecting on identity, love, and self-expression.

Macai
By contrast, delves into a darker outcome envisioning Appoy’s descent into the world of drugs and crime. These two spiritual sequels explore alternate realities, shedding light on how a single choice can ripple into vastly different lives.

Together - Jagat, Macai, and Neer Mel Neruppu (Fire on Water) present a powerful trilogy on identity,environment and the fragile nature of destiny, a cinematic experience unlike any other.

Jagat’s re-release date has been moved to 4th July 2025 (originally 23rd May 2025). This shift ensures the film gets the best possible nationwide screening.
