"Beyond The Brawl" - 2026 EB Craney Awards - TV Feature Story

For my TV feature story, I highlighted the characters surrounding Montana’s “Brawl of the Wild” football game. This story gave a platform to individuals associated with the famous rivalry football game who may not always have the chance to share their unique gameday perspectives.

I interviewed two Montana State University drum majors, Brianna Rainey and Jordan Jensen. They spoke about their experience as drum majors, leading the Spirit of the West marching band during a game like The Brawl of the Wild, and the important role that the marching band can offer in the gameday experience for fans and players.

Another individual I spoke with was Kerry Hanson, the Vice President of Alumni engagement for the alumni foundation. Having grown up in Missoula but attending MSU for college, Hanson brought a fresh perspective to this piece, having experienced both sides of the famous football game throughout her life.
