Scope & Content: On the Japanese bombing and occupation of Shanghai. The 31st U.S. Inf. Div. marches through the streets. Bombs set buildings afire. Chinese flee the city, carrying belongings. British soldiers keep the line of refugees moving. Chinese are searched and questioned by Japanese marines. Japanese artillery bombards sectors of the city; infantry troops rush through the streets and load Chinese on trucks. Shows wounded Chinese and a Chinese refugee family eating.
