WCA World Championship 2019 MBLD: 47/50 54:18! (PB + 2nd Place)
Cubes: MoYu GTS 2 (non-magnetic), yellow plastic manually replaced with black.
Music: a piano version of S.T.A.Y. from the Interstellar soundtrack
I really didn't go into this attempt expecting much. Most of my results leading up to the competition were quite a bit worse, and I didn't think I'd be able to handle the nerves well. I'm really proud of the fact that I was able to perform so well when it counted; I'm not really sure of the reason, but I'm very happy with this nonetheless :p
This result also has me really motivated to practice even more seriously and push my limits. And hopefully I'll stream a lot more of that practice than I have been :)
Huge congratulations to Graham Siggins and Shivam Bansal for their incredible attempts, earning first and third respectively in this unbelievable 135 point podium!
Also, feels good to be a platinum member finally. I nearly got it last Worlds; if I had just started insertions on a 20 to 5C in FMC earlier, I'd have tied for third. And yes, I do have both bigBLD means officially too :p
Memo Analysis:
Cubes 1-8: 4:01 (very fast)
Cubes 9-16: 4:10 (very fast)
Review 1-16: 3:45 (quite slow. I should be more confident and push my speed in my 16-cube reviews)
Cubes 17-24: 4:14 (very fast)
Cubes 25-32: 4:08 (very fast)
Review 17-32: 3:30 (slow)
Cubes 33-40: 4:53 (pretty good, I normally slow down by the end of memo and these last packs are rarely sub-5)
Cubes 41-48: 4:55 (yay, all packs sub-5 :) )
Cube 49: 0:37 (I went too safe here. You can even see in the video that I set this cube aside because I forgot corner memo, so the safety didn't help me. Fortunately I recalled the cube pretty soon after)
Cube 50: 0:37 (also way too safe. I have a problem with time management on these last cubes. This probably contributed to forgetting cube 49 temporarily)
Total Memo Time: 34:50 (41.9/cube)
Total Execution Time: 19:28 (23.36/cube)
PB time per cube, 65.26s!
The attempt itself is also PB; I had some other 44 point attempts unofficially but this is my fastest. Really happy to have my PB be official, but it also makes me want to practice harder so I deserve an official result this good :)
