GV. The Queen's Piper leading the procession through the colonnade between ranks of scarlet coated Chelsea pensioners to the Great Hall of the Royal Hospital. SCU. The Queen Elizabeth II walking up the colonnade accompanied by Mr John Hare, Secretary for War, followed by the Queen Mother and other members of the royal family. SV. The Queen accompanied by Mr John Hare. They walk out of picture, then comes the Queen Mother accompanied by Field Marshal Sir Gerald Templer. They walk out of picture. Next comes Princess Margaret accompanied by Field Marshal Lord Edmond Ironside. They walk out of picture. Then comes the Duke of Gloucester, accompanied by Field Marshal Lord Alanbrooke. They walk out of picture. Next comes the Duchess of Gloucester accompanied by Field Marshal Earl Harold Alexander of Tunis, they walk out of picture. Princess Royal follows, accompanied by Field Marshal Earl Montgomery, they walk out of picture. Next comes the Princess Marina Duchess of Kent accompanied by Field Marshal Sir Claude Auchinleck, the walk out of picture. Next comes Field Marshal Sir John Harding with Lady Mountbatten. Field & SV. Procession walking up between the tables to the top table in the great hall. SV. The Queen takes her places and sits down at the top table with General Sir Gerald Templar on her left. CU. The Queen Mother seated. SCU. Princess Margaret seated. SCU. Field-Marshal Alanbrooke. SCU. General Sir Gerald Templer. GV. of the complete set-up in the great hall with everybody applauding as the Queen rises to make her statement. SCU. The Queen standing at the top table to speak, amidst applause. CU. The Queen speaking (natural sound): "Before I ask you to rise and drink with me the Toast of the Army, I am sure you will wish to join me in offering warm congratulations to the Chief of the Imperial Staff on his promotion to the rank of Field Marshal." (loud applause). Queen continues: "I now ask you to rise and drink the toast of the army." "The Army" - applause.
