WATER MIXABLE OILS - what, why, how ✶ Honest Opinion after 4 Years

Let's talk about water mixable oils! This mysterious, magical medium thanks to modern science. I will show you what they are, how I use them, clean up, toxicity, etc. This is my honest opinion about water mixable oil paint after 4 years of experimenting.

I’ve been using water-mixable oil paints for a few years now, and I thought I’d share some of the pros and cons of working with this unique paint, as well as answer some of the questions I’ve been gathering over the last couple weeks.

00:30 - What are they??
In short, Water mixable oil paints are traditional oil paints that have a modified binder which usually includes an emulsifier that allows it to dissolve in water. They’ve been around for about 30 years and are starting to gain a lot of popularity! This makes me happy because more brands are making their own line of water mixable oils that I get to enjoy :)

If you’re like me, and you have extreme sensitivity to certain products and poor ventilation in your studio, it becomes extremely difficult or impossible to progress with traditional oil painting due to the odors from the various mediums and clean-up products. Over the years I’ve experimented with everything from Liquin to Zest-it, but discovered that any additive with an odor makes me sick.
