Russian President Vladimir Putin touches down in Brisbane - Daily Mail

President Obama has arrived at Amberley Air Force base, south west of Brisbane, to be greeted by a high-voltage crowd, after President Vladmir Putin's plane landed at Brisbane Airport on Friday. Mr Putin was greeted by Stuart Robert MP, the Assistant Minister for Defence, as well as the state governor Paul de Jersey, a representative of the Governor-General and Russian ambassador to Australia Vladimir Morozov. However almost immediately after he departed the airport the political heavyweights appeared from nowhere. Attorney General George Brandis was there to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel (right), and shortly after Chinese President Xi Jinping was greeted by Governor General Peter Cosgrove (left) and Queensland Premier Campbell Newman (not pictured). Mr Putin's apparent snubbing comes as tensions are high between Russia and Australia over Mr Putin's response to the MH17 disaster.
