Canyoning in Germany - Kesselbach, Bad Reichenhall

A small, shallow and short canyon near some other much more fun canyons. The Kesselbach is unlikely to be repeated by me, despite the fact that there are some nice abseil pitches, and the white limestone is very pleasant both on the eyes as well as below your feet. The canyon itself is very shallow at all times, which is good if you need an emergency exit, but some abseils feel a bit useless if you see a path going around it 3 meters to the left of you. Unfortunately, many of the anchors have been destroyed (both willingly by other people, as well as by floods), which forces you to either take crappy old ones with bad placement, or drill new ones yourself (which will probably soon be destroyed again). On warm summer days the place will likely be crawling with people who don't want you there. All in all, an okay canyon: not the best by far, but also not the worst.

Parking: 47°42'43.0"N 12°52'02.0"E
Ascent: 30 min. From the parking space, cross the Kesselbach and take the road up past the 2 houses. Take the first hiking path to the right, which crosses the Kesselbach soon after. From here, simply follow the path directly besides the canyon until you reach a clearing where, with nice weather, many people will be sunbathing (you can clearly recognize the flattened areas where people lie even if the weather is not nice). The entry to the canyon is here. There is a roughly 15m waterfall a short 10 min hike further up, but there is no anchor present here, nor a good tree to rappel from (04/21).
Descent: 2h. Max abseil: 25m (purely due to destroyed anchors and poor secondary anchor placement). The tour ends directly at the parking space.
