A player, despite having the highest of expectations, has, more often than not, far exceeded them and it has been a blessing to watch him play. And speaking of blessings, many of the NBA’s greats, when they came into the league, were drafted into situations, that despite their own greatness, did give them a better chance to win and compete early on in their careers. Magic had Kareem, Kobe had Shaq, Bird had Parish and McHale, Tim Duncan had David Robinson. If not out of the gate, somewhere early in their career, the team made the requisite moves to truly surround their player with a team that can actually compete for championship. LeBron James on the other hand, did not, until he took matters into his own hands and joined Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.
