I haven’t made one of these videos in a while so some of you may be new to this concept.

My actual degree and education is in Editorial and Advertising photography and I took a particular interest in digital manipulation and retouching.
This basically means I spent most of my university years directing fashion and beauty photography and working out how the picture was taken from lighting al the way to Digital retouching / photoshop.

As someone who is super into my skincare, its become a hobby and now a job, but one thing I’ve noticed is how much brands and influencers alike, use filters, photoshop, facetune and even just lighting to create “perfect” flawless looking skin.

This isn’t anything new, we are aware these things exist, but the technology and even everyday peoples skills are getting better and better and the changes are becoming less and less obvious.

So whilst we can have a good laugh at some of the facetune fails, this video is by no means me shaming people who use filters. I don’t mind filters as long as you say clearly that its faceted or or filtered. I believe no filters or editing of skin make up etc should be used in paid promotion.
However, I’m just here to make you ware of what is possible to do to pictures and video and to help you think critically about what you see online.

And realise that perfection, what ever that may be too mainstream media at that moment in time, doesn’t exist.

Remember that skincare is extremely personal to everybody's skin. What works for me, may not work for you. But I hope my videos give you some good ideas for products, techniques and Ingredients to try.
