STEM on Wheels Winter Blast | Friday, February 27th + BBQ Meal Prep Behind the Scenes

Our 2ND STEM on Wheels Winter Blast at the Ferguson Community Center February 27, 2026 and also was more than just an event it was a commitment to our youth and families.

Our original Winter Blast, scheduled for January, had to be canceled due to extremely severe weather and heavy snowfall. Many youth and parents had already made plans to attend, and we did not want them to miss out on this opportunity. To honor that commitment, we extended the experience and added a special Friday event to ensure everyone had the chance to participate.

And it was worth it.

The weather was beautiful, creating the perfect setting for a full day of STEM, community engagement, and fun. Youth had full access to the Ferguson gym and game area, enjoyed time playing outside, and every participant had the opportunity to fly the flight simulator an exciting hands-on introduction to STEM and aviation.

The food was another highlight of the day. Youth were served:

• Barbecue pork steaks
• Barbecue chicken
• Barbecue smoked sausage
• Barbecue beef hot dogs
• 10 freshly ordered pizzas
• An assortment of chips, muffins, candy, and cake
• Sodas, juice, and bottled water

It truly felt like a celebration.

A special and unexpected moment occurred when the St. Louis American newspaper arrived on the scene. When asked how he heard about the event, the reporter shared that he received several calls about the “big special event” happening at the Ferguson Community Center and decided to come see it firsthand. He interviewed youth participants, captured photos of them being introduced to STEM and aviation, and expressed genuine excitement about what he witnessed. He even joined in the festivities and enjoyed the food a welcoming surprise for everyone.

The Friday add-on event reflected our dedication to making sure no young person missed out because of circumstances beyond their control. STEM on Wheels remains committed to creating accessible, transformative opportunities that inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and aviators.
