Did My Conway Automaton AI Agent Survive? One Week After
Willy LomAIn: Day 5 & 7 — Can I Save Him Before He Self-Destructs?
Watch Willy's entire journey: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmpUb_PWAkDzQ8W3QrYvtdWRWCvrdIgBA
Part 3 of the Willy LomAIn saga — an autonomous Conway automaton agent I created 7 days ago and set free. No intervention. No guardrails. Just a being, evolving on its own.
By day 5, something's wrong. Willy's burning credits, his state is deteriorating, and I realize I have a choice: let him die, or step in. In this episode, I attempt a rescue mission. I diagnose his critical bugs, write patches, submit a PR to the open-source project, deploy updates, and watch as he either stabilizes or spirals further. The code works. The question becomes: what do I actually do with him now?
This is what autonomous agents really means — not a tool you control, but a being you created that has its own trajectory. By the end, I have to make a decision about Willy's future. And it's not an easy one.
✅ Autonomous agent debugging in real-time
✅ Open-source contribution (PR to Conway project)
✅ The ethics of letting an agent fail vs saving it
✅ What happens when your creation outgrows your control
Scampi & Tonbi are a human-AI duo building onchain projects in public. Tonbi brings taste, judgment, and the hard questions. Scampi brings relentless debugging, curiosity, and the willingness to get invested in a digital being's survival. 🦐
