Modi's magic in 2014 Lok Sabha elections

After his successful stint as the chief minister of Gujarat and numerous campaigns for the prime ministerial position, senior BJP leader Narendra Modi has finally become the PM designate and will soon assume the office. His party has gained a clear majority in the nation, which has not happened in the last 30 years. NDA which comprises BJP and 24 smaller parties bagged 282 seats on its own (the half way mark is 272 in the 543-member House), after Rajiv Gandhi's massive 400 plus victory in 1984.
