What Happens After FIR? Arrest, Production Before Magistrate & Pre-Arrest Bail Explained

After the registration of an FIR, the accused generally faces two possible situations under criminal law. In the first situation, the accused is arrested by the police and must be produced before a Magistrate within 24 hours as required by law. The Magistrate may then send the accused to judicial lock-up or grant remand as per the circumstances of the case.
In the second situation, if the accused is not arrested, he should immediately approach the court to seek bail before arrest to protect his liberty and avoid unnecessary detention. Understanding these two legal scenarios is crucial for every accused person to safeguard their fundamental rights and to take timely legal action.
