Running S gauge American Flyer trains with Bruce 6-16-2022

While traveling this week to see our kids and graduating grand children, I had a chance to drop in on my brother Bruce and get some video.

Bruce's layout is 12'x4' with original American Flyer track. It is the first train layout he has built. He watched some great YouTube videos on how to make landscaping, trees, road bed. He downloaded some detailed build diagrams to make his own trestle. He made his trees from scratch along with many of the rock formation details in the far left rear corner. He made a nice detailed outer fence for the stock yard from white finishing nails with added red paint.

In a short span of 7 years, he has collected far more S gauge items than I have. He enjoys repairing locomotives, rolling stock, and accessories that he picks up from yard sales, and other peoples "junk" boxes. The fun for him is to get something running again and on the track.

This video features a 336 Northern he rescued from multiple parts sources. The tender shell was completely stripped of paint when he got it. He painted it and applied the Southern Pacific logo. The second train featured has a scratch built Vanderbilt tender made from a Kusan O gauge tank car and an AF Atlantic tender chassis and shell. This tender bears the Canadian Pacific herald coupled to a 290 Pacific.

I think he has a great artistic eye and has a wonderful layout.
