Michael Fassbender on the Troubles in Ireland
Michael Fassbender portrayed Irish political prisoner Bobby Sands in his breakout role in a film called Hunger. While Fassbender grew up in the peaceful southern part of the country, he remembers well his trips to Northern Ireland -- his mother's birthplace -- to visit family. It's also where Bobby Sands, an enduring political icon, died while on a hunger strike. Here Michael Fassbender talks about what it was like to venture into the north as a child and how different it was from the way he lived.
