Mortality Movies: Nora's Will on Jewish funeral scheduling

Mortality Movies is a 30-minute program with a panel of experts discussing topics such as funerals, grief, and related end-of-life topics. During each episode, several film clips are shown related to that episode’s topic. The expert panel discusses the film clips and share information that can help audiences understand end-of-life issues and plan for our 100% guaranteed mortality. Host @GailRubinleads the discussions.

This clip comes from the 2008 Mexican drama/comedy film, Nora's Will. Jose, the divorced husband of Nora, has discovered she has died by suicide, overdosing on pills. A rabbi has come to the apartment to set up a date for the funeral, which is complicated by Passover and Shabbat, holidays when you can't schedule a funeral.

This clip will be discussed in an upcoming Mortality Movies episode on Jewish funeral, burial and mourning traditions. To learn more about Jewish funeral traditions, watch this talk by Gail Rubin: https://youtu.be/E-UOilfKvKc.
