Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has accused Washington of orchestrating a new “regime change” operation after U.S. President Donald Trump admitted to authorizing CIA covert actions in Venezuela. Speaking at a peace council meeting in Caracas, Maduro denounced decades of U.S. interference and called for dialogue instead of confrontation. Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry labeled Trump’s comments a “grave violation” of international law, warning that U.S. intelligence and military activity in the Caribbean aim to seize the country’s oil resources. Caracas says it will raise a formal complaint at the UN Security Council, as Trump defended his decision citing migration and drug trafficking concerns.
