Going Short

I'm taking a first look at my 53' flatbed trailer after some major 'surgery' was done on the axles. 2 weeks ago I had a 10'1" spread tandem. Now the axles are spaced 6' apart. Call me crazy but that's how I hope to increase my revenue, decrease tire wear, and improve fuel mileage.
