‘We are the Bede, this is our identity’

Meet Deepali and Sardar Jashim, two leaders in the Bede community in #Bangladesh. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, these marginalized minority groups faced significant challenges accessing information and health services. Thanks to the efforts of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and its volunteers, Deepali and Sardar were able to help their community get vaccinated and protect themselves against the virus. Despite initial fears about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, Deepali and Sardar led by example, getting vaccinated themselves and encouraging others to do the same. Thanks to their efforts, 40 out of 60 people in their community are now protected against Covid-19.
