Pixel 3a XL vs Galaxy S10 Plus | Is the Samsung worth it?

Comparing Google's Pixel 3a XL vs the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, to see if this mid-range Pixel smartphone can compete with premium flagships like the S10+. Both mobiles boast fantastic camera tech, gaming smarts, spacious screens and feature-packed software. So should you save cash and go for the Pixel 3a XL over the Samsung handset?

The major draw of both of these phones is the camera, even though it's a very different setup on each phone. The Pixel's single-lens shooter is brilliant for everyday photos and excels at HDR and night shots, beating the S10 Plus in many cases. That said, the Galaxy is brilliant for video - although Google's handset definitely doesn't disappoint, as this comparison shows.

As for speed, the S10 Plus is the victor - that Exynos platform means premium performance versus the 3a XL, which still manages to pump out an impressive experience with PubG Mobile. If you're not a super-dedicated gamer, the Pixel will more than suffice.

On the battery life front, both phones deliver the goods, while I like the UI on both as well. Google's stock Android Pie software isn't as feature-dense as Samsung's One UI, but both are very enjoyable - and don't forget the 3 years of guaranteed updates.
