Towards a Curiculum for Play

Examines play provision in South Aston, Birmingham, where there is a skilful balance of freedom for the children of all ages to choose their own activities, and the right amount of guidance to enable them to take full advantage of what is offered, developing self motivation and leadership skills. A wide variety of activities are shown, including outdoor pursuits, holiday play schemes and school related activities.

Made in 1985 this film reflects the cultural attitudes of the country and language of the time it was made. The issues raised are timeless. The film quality may not be to modern standards.
