Trail Motions mtb guide - splendid scottish singletrack Annat to Achnashellach / Torridon

I was lucky enough to get the chance to sneak off for a few rides whilst we were up in the highlands at Applecross. This ride, the classic Torridon lollipop loop was by far the best of the lot. The landscape you're moving through is breathtaking and requires a lot of looking at to take it in. The trail down to the private level crossing at Achnashellach has to be one of the longest descents I've ever ridden. I'm sure some people could manage to ride it in one run but being me, I had to repeatedly stop and take photo's so I can remind myself of what it was like. The remoteness of the place (especially if you're riding solo) is something to consider. I was fairly well prepared with plenty of food water and spares. The one thing I didn't have was loads of midge repellant, and I seriously needed some of that on the way back.. but that's part 2..
