ROMEO: Matted Dog Gets Groomed, July 2014

In California's Inland Empire region, Riverside County Animal Services officers and veterinary team members often recover dogs from streets and properties that are in some very desperate conditions. Romeo, a poodle mix, was one such dog.

The severely matted mutt was discovered as a stray and recovered by Riverside County Animal Control Officer Dylan Gates.

Veterinary Technician Pamela Holland used some rare down time in the department's receiving area to groom and care for the dog to make his stay healthier and more comfortable. She also removed ticks and treated his skin for heat rashes and infections.

The somewhat shy dog seemed to appreciate the much-needed haircut. He will be adopted out to a loving family or transported to one of our many rescue-group partner organizations.

Interested parties should visit the shelter on Monday (July 12, 2014). Ask for Romeo. His animal ID number is A-1124050.
