“The Lord said, do not make yourself an idol or a character… Do not have other gods!

People, come to your senses! The people of this country have always been a Christian people.

Then why do you worship idols?

Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead on the third day… and your dead idols will not raise anyone from the dead.

They were even dead during their lives… "

State forces immediately rushed for the monk Gabriel, lowered him to the ground, and all the mob marched on him and began to strike him with all their might.

Everyone from the crowd gathered in the square wanted to deal a blow to this rebellious enemy of the people in order to prove themselves loyal to the then communist regime.

The only reason the priest Gabriel was not shot on the spot was because they were convinced he was dead.

He was transferred to a cell where he lay unconscious for a month somewhere between life and death, but by God's will he did not die.

After a few years he was released from prison and he went to live with his mother.

He was publicly declared a lunatic.

Absolutely everyone avoided him, insulted him and no one wanted to give him a job.

His mother was not allowed to appear in public either because the mob would attack her.

For years he sat on the steps of the church, rejected by all people and begged.

He never gave up on faith in the Lord even though he suffered terribly from rejection and hatred towards him.

He knew how to crawl into a rock and pray in tears.

When the persecution of Christians was finally over and human hearts were thawed and the longing for the truth was reborn in the Lord, Gabriel became the priest of many people who came to him for spiritual advice.

It was the rejection and hatred of the world that opened the door to the spiritual kingdoms of God and the love he could then give to others, and miracles through the intercession of this saint do not cease even today 60 years after these events.

Namely, an oil lamp is constantly burning on the saint's grave, and according to the testimonies of thousands of pilgrims, the oil from the lamp is miraculous and has a healing effect on the body and spirit.

The words of the Georgian saint especially emphasize the hope that God will always take care of his people, even when it seems impossible.
