Mario Roman | Spanish Hard Enduro Championship | Pascuet Off Road Centre

As I closed the 2020 season with a great win over Red Bull Override in the US, it was finally the time of the first ever race of the 2021 Hard Enduro season.

I came to Pascuet Offroad Centre with great support from Spanish fans and my team. I was to face a good challenge from Jonny Walker on his new Beta, who is no alien to the track. Dakar winner Sam Sunderland was also there but he didn’t race at the main event. He just participated in the practice session on Saturday.

More than 160 riders gave it a go for a 3H race around the six-kilometre extreme track.

I and Jonny Walker had a good start and we were in a good fight till we faced the traffic, after when he made a mistake and felt behind. I pushed really hard throughout the race and felt really comfortable on the ride even though I had a crash. I had to continue and finish the race with a bend clutch lever and mud-soaked gas grip.
In the end I finished 1st and managed to complete 13 laps. It was a good start to the year and I am very happy. I can’t thank enough to the team and fans there to cheer me up.
