Inhabiting the Buffer Zone of " Ivrea, Industrial City of the XX Century"

Ivrea is a city about 50 km far away from the metropolitan area
of Turin and which owes its fame to the presence of Olivetti, the
typewriters and calculating machines factory which shaped its
transformation and growth all along the XX century, through
the work of some of the most famous Italian architects and
designers of the twentieth century.
In 2008, on first Olivetti factory’s foundation centenary and
in the middle of a serious crisis in the production sector, the
process of candidacy of Ivrea as “Industrial City of the XX
century” for UNESCO World Heritage began, peaked in 2018
with the recognition.
In 2020, “Design for the Next Community”, promoted
by the Municipality of Ivrea, is one of the 7 Architecture
Festivals selected among the winners of MIBACT’s Call of
General Management Contemporary Creativity and Urban
Regeneration.
