With many countries setting deadlines to completely shift to renewable energy, there will be tremendous pressure on the battery companies to improve efficiency, capacity without increasing the cost.
We come to a stark reality that inorder to make Tesla's viable the price of a Tesla car should come down drastically. Just for reference, the cheapest car sold in India is Tata NANO which is priced around $1369. With a per capita income of around $3000, it will be far fetched to say that an average person in India would be able to afford an electric car. Many developing economies like India and other countries which make up more than 70% of the population in the planet, it would be quite difficult for the entire world to shift to renewable energy without first making it affordable.
