Santa Maria, Strela do Dia - “Saint Mary, Star of the Day, show us the way to God and guide us” - is a medieval Marian song from the "Cantigas de Santa Maria" by Alfonso X "El Sabio" - Spain, 13th century.

This old Marian song inspired me to arrange a version for lute and percussion. It was my intention to honor the sacred Divine Feminine through the sound of my lute.

Alfonso X "The Wise" (1221-1284) collected in the course of his term about 420 songs that serve the praise of the Mother Mary. Therefore, this project is of great importance for medieval literature, music and art.

Santa Maria, Strela do Dia - “Heilige Maria, Stern des Tages, zeig uns den Weg zu Gott und führe uns” - ist ein mittelalterliches Marienlied aus den “Cantigas de Santa Maria” von Alfonso X “El Sabio” - Spanien, 13. Jhdt.

Dieses alte Marienlied hat mich dazu inspiriert, eine Fassung für Laute und Percussion zu arrangieren. Dabei war es meine Intention, durch den Klang meiner Laute das heilige Göttlich-Weibliche zu ehren.

Alfonso X “Der Weise” (1221–1284) sammelte im Laufe seiner Amtszeit ca. 420 Lieder, die dem Lobpreis der Mutter Maria dienen. Deshalb ist dieses Projekt von großer Bedeutung für die mittelalterliche Literatur, Musik und Kunst.
