NOLA Natives Remember Hurricane Katrina 15 Years Later | Dispatches from the Middle

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in New Orleans. Levees in the city broke, causing flooding that rose to 15 feet in some areas. Over 1000 people died from the effects of Katrina, and the total number of casualties is still unknown.

@WDSU's Travers Mackel, an Emmy-award winning investigative reporter, and Margaret Orr, the stations veteran meteorologist, both not only lived through Katrina, but worked through it too, covering the devastation and aftermath of the storm.
