Case Summary: State of Tennessee vs. Heather Marie Turgeson
Indictment Nos: 2024-CR-66 & 2025-CR-34
Keywords: attempted child abuse, neglect, drug possession, supervised probation, plea agreement, suspended sentence, DCS compliance, no contest plea, felony conviction, substance abuse assessment

Heather Marie Turgeson appeared in court to resolve two criminal cases. In Case No. 2024-CR-66, she faced charges of child abuse and neglect. Under a plea agreement, the charge was amended to attempted child abuse and neglect, and she received a 2-year suspended sentence as a Range I felony offender, to be served on supervised probation. Conditions include monthly drug testing, zero-tolerance drug policy, and compliance with all orders from the Dixon County Juvenile Court. She had previously completed an alcohol and drug (A&D) assessment and was following a treatment plan.

In Case No. 2025-CR-34, Turgeson entered a no contest plea to simple possession of methamphetamine, resulting in an 11 months and 29 days sentence, suspended to probation, a $750 fine, and court costs. The sentence runs concurrently with her other case. Additional charges in this indictment were nollied (dismissed).

According to the state’s factual basis, both Turgeson and her minor child tested positive for methamphetamine, cocaine, and THC following a traffic stop. However, a subsequent hair follicle test came back negative for Turgeson. The defense noted that the child may have been exposed to narcotics while with the biological father, although Turgeson had custodial responsibility at the time.

The court accepted the plea deal, and convictions were entered as per agreement.
