Lyft pre-tips may be rolling out for drivers, and this could change how drivers decide which rides are actually worth accepting in 2026. In this video, I break down my first time seeing a Lyft pre-tip amount before accepting a ride, why it caught me off guard, and whether the long-distance trip would have been worth the miles, time, and traffic.

I don’t do Lyft nearly as much as DoorDash, Instacart, Spark, Uber Eats, or Uber, but this was the first time I personally noticed a pre-tip showing upfront on a Lyft ride offer. The ride had a $32.85 tip attached, but it also involved around 82 miles of driving, plus extra pickup miles and a long drive back.
