Interview with Marita Bijlsma
Marita Bijlsma graduated from architecture at TU Delft in 2008, where she met her partner Thomas Buijs. The pair worked for a long time at architectural firm Fokkema & Partners. There they developed their ideas about architecture together. In 2018 they founded their own agency, ATELIERFRONT. With their small studio they focus on clients who are open to innovative and sustainable ideas. In their designs, the user and the place are central and they strive to create something special, which is also self-evident. With the Gibbon Pavilion in Artis, they were not only nominated for the Abe Bonnema Architecture Prize, but also for the Public Building of the Year (Architectenweb), for the longlist of ARC21 and for the longlist of the Houtbouwprijs.
