Gergiev, Abdrazakov and Matsuev nominated Putin as presidential candidate in 2024 election

An initiative group made up of over 700 politicians and figures from the sporting and cultural worlds met on December 16, 2023 in Moscow and unanimously endorsed Putin's nomination as an independent candidate, Russian.

In addition to Ildar Abdrazakov, the list of cultural figures includes conductor Valery Gergiev, violist Yuri Bashmet, pianist Denis Matsuev, saxophonist Igor Butman, opera singer Hibla Gerzmava, film director Sergei Mikhalkov, ballet dancer Nikolai Tsiskaridze, but Ildar Abdrazakov is the only one with various international engagements that have not yet been canceled.
