During the summer, my first job every visit at the lake is to check the oxygen levels. Warm water holds less oxygen than cold water so as the year progresses, it’s normal for the oxygen levels in the lake to fall.

If they fall to 4mg/l in the morning then I need to turn on the aerators to provide additional oxygen for the fish. If you are struggling for a bite at this time of year, then fishing closer to the aerator will definitely increase your chances of a bite.
