Leaving Home: Three journeys through dark landscapes 1

In the first segment of this documentary, Simon Rattle introduces us to three composers who were challenged by the political and social turmoil of the first decades of the 20th century. Then he goes on to explain how the hungarian composer Bela Bartok integrated folk music into his musical language and began to build a sound that challenged the expectations of his time.
