Hero and Heart Awards - Hearts in SF 2023

Hearts in SF 2023 spotlighted the critical, innovative, on-the-ground work of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center staff and allies through its Hero and Heart Awards, presented by Dr. Elena Fuentes-Afflick.

Joan Torres, MSN, MBA, RN, who spearheaded the development and expansion of the Behavioral Emergency Response Team and its model of care at ZSFG; Merjo Roca, RN, BA, the nurse manager of the ZSFG Adult Urgent Care Center who has been integral in the development and management of the ZSFG COVID-19 Alternate Test Site and Vaccine Clinic, as well as the hospital’s MPX emergency response; and Anais Arriaga, a breast cancer survivor and advocate for cancer care who shares her inspiring story of recovery to support other breast cancer patients in their journeys.
