Longer by Dan Fogelberg (cover)

Today is my wife and my 52nd wedding anniversary. So, I wanted to do a song that had meaning for both of us. Decades ago we sang at dozens of wedding ceremonies every year and "Longer" was a song we sang many, many times. I think this is one of Dan Fogelberg's best songs.

The main guitar, my Olson SJ, sounds like it has a huge chorus effect on it because I actually played the same guitar part a 2nd time and panned one guitar recording full left and the other full right in the stereo image. This is similar to the original Dan Fogelberg recording. The guitar is in open G tuning. For the solo string parts at the song introduction and for the French horn solo, I used my Gerald Sheppard guitar to play these parts. The Sheppard is in standard tuning. And I sang the harmony parts my wife usually sang in our younger days, so that was a challenge as the parts get pretty high.
