Pakistan Moves Toward Phasing Out Super Tax, Says Finance Minister

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has signaled the government's intention to gradually eliminate the super tax as part of efforts to create a more business-friendly economic environment. Under the proposed 2026-27 federal budget, six super tax slabs for businesses earning between Rs150 million and Rs500 million have been abolished, while the rate for companies earning above Rs500 million has been reduced from 10% to 8%.

The move is aimed at encouraging investment, supporting exporters, and improving Pakistan’s economic competitiveness. Business leaders have welcomed the decision, viewing it as a positive step toward reducing the tax burden and promoting long-term economic growth.
