Bach: Prelude and Fugue in E Minor, BWV 533 | Wollongong Town Hall

One of the first works I learnt for the organ, the Prelude and Fugue in E Minor, BWV 533, is a classic example of the early style of Bach – heavily influenced by the North German improvisatory style and clear approach to fugal counterpoint, it is simpler and more direct in its approach to Bach's later, grander fugues.

This is a good work for students to learn and get comfortable with playing the organ pedals, as it contains a number of pedal solos that are challenging but straightforward in solution.
