“Hold On” - Dakota Ray Parker - (Original Song)

I apologize to my subscribers that I have been slacking. These past few months have been pretty tough financially and mentally but I have seen the light at the end of the tunnel.

I wanted to share a brand new tune I finished last week. This one’s called “Hold On.” Growing up my mom was an alcoholic…but weirdly enough I never remember her even having a sip. Memories have a way of disappearing sometimes to protect you. Songwriting is my therapy. Anyhow this tune is about loving an addict. I hope you love it.

Lyrics:

I drove across the Midwest
Trolling every mile without a day of rest
Rushed to you to make it on time
Your momma called, worried you are dying

I recall the night we said goodbye
Always choosing over me, getting high
I know the damage that your daddy done
I know now that’s why you always ran and hid.

Hold on a while longer
Hold on rest the doctor
Hold on I really love her

I should’ve got you away from your past
Instead, I left you alone to crash
I could have built us a pretty little life
Instead, I put out that fire in your eyes

I’m sorry I didn’t try a little more
It broke my heart finding you on the floor
911 pumping air into your lungs
How many times did I hear that you were done.
