How to Forgive the Unforgivable | Tyler Pugh | TEDxVirginiaTech

Sexual assault amongst men is one of the most underrepresented voices in its field. To believe that things get better when there are so few speaking out about it becomes difficult. The isolation that comes with trauma, specifically for men, is indescribably high. Yet, through this isolation and adversity, forgiveness can be found. Speaker Tyler Pugh's talk aims at analyzing the process in which we go about forgiving people, who we forgive, and what ramifications that has on our lives. This talk is for anyone who has ever felt alone, without a voice or place to go. This is your talk.

Tyler Pugh is a fourth-year student receiving a dual-degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Spanish. He is currently working as a Resident Advisor and serving as an ambassador for the College of Engineering. Through an Undergraduate Research Fellowship, Tyler has found his passion, conducting research regarding sexual violence and its impact on academic success and financial stability. Tyler hopes to continue his advocacy for male and LGBTQ+ identifying survivors by expanding the narrative surrounding who experiences sexual violence and implementing policies that reflect that.
