Coping With COVID Addiction

Part of weekly Webinar series produced by Mensah Medical to explore important topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this episode, Dr. Albert Mensah is joined by Dr. Viviane Pecanha, International Psychology Department Chair of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and an expert on addiction and compulsive behavior, as well as Ms. Laurie Hadler, Clinical Director of Footprints to Recovery addiction treatment center in Elgin, IL. Topics discussed include the increased reliance on video and other technology to provide treatment to addiction patients, the increased risk of falling into addictive behavior during this time of social distancing, the role of biochemistry in determining an individual's propensity for addiction, and the need for more multidisciplinary approaches to treating addiction and other mental health concerns.
