Last minute gift ideas that don’t suck and are kinder to the planet 💗🌎🎁

I’m a serial last-minute kind of gal. It’s something I’ve been embarrassed of my whole life. But I’ve come to realize that being notoriously late for things has also made me wildly adaptable too. And that’s something I’m quite proud of!

Here are some last minute ideas I always consider for the people around me, in case you’re stumped. And they also happen to be gentler on the planet! (No need to run out and splurge on Amazon or two-day shipping if you don’t need to, right?)

FOR YOUR…

💘 PARTNER:
✿ A few years ago I got my partner a WSJ subscription as part of his gift, and he loved it! It was something he wanted, but wouldn’t spend the money on otherwise. I think splurging on a 3, 6, or 12-month subscription to their favorite artist’s Patreon, or independent media platform would be such a nice gift! And in turn, supports their favorite reporters/artists all year.
✿ Book a fun date with a winter-twist! Like skiing, indoor/outdoor skating rink, a night to the theatre, or cross country rentals. Something to look forward to in the gloomy post-holiday winter!

🧸 SIBLING:
✿ Local goodies or secondhand treasures (FB Marketplace is the easiest way to find local things fast, imho)
✿ Give the clothes you stole from their closet back ;) + interest! …something they always steal of yours

👩‍👧 PARENT(s):
✿ A fun photoshoot is something most parents would never buy for themselves, and the photos would be memories to have forever. Send a message to that local photographer you’ve been following forever and get on their 2023 cal :)
✿ Take them out to a nice dinner! (a classic oldie-but-a-goodie gift)

👯‍♂️ FRIEND:
✿ Nothing beats seeing a plant in your home & thinking of the friendship it grew from (via plant clippings or house plant)! You could up-cycle something lying around as the planter, or find something to decorate from the thrift store.
✿ Bake them some cookies 🍪

Also, don’t be afraid to ask them if there’s anything they want/need too :)
If it won’t make it here on time, I’ve always printed a photo, added it to a card, and let them know it will be here soon. Depending on the person, they might not mind that.
