There are two ways we grow sweet potato slips on our homestead. The first way is sprouting slips directly from a sweet potato, then rooting those slips in water before planting. The second way? Let the sweet potatoes already growing in the ground do the work for you. Those slips are already rooted, so all you have to do is separate them and plant them straight into the garden. Easy. One thing I’ve learned about sweet potatoes… the less you mess with them, the better they grow. They love heat, loose soil, and being left alone.
